Types of Gum Grafting Procedures
Dr. Yalda has extensive experience performing connective tissue grafts, free gingival grafts, and pedicle grafts. Connective tissue grafts are the most common types of gum grafting procedures and will treat root exposure around one or more teeth. Tissue is sourced from beneath a flap created on the patient’s palate. Free gingival grafts involve grafting tissue directly from the palate and then placing the grafted sample on the area with gum recession. Pedicle grafts involve repairing the gums with existing tissue from around the tooth. We will discuss different options and techniques during your consultation.
Benefits of Gum Grafting
A gum graft can provide both aesthetic and functional benefits to the patient, and is a relatively easy procedure to perform. This procedure not only restores the appearance of your natural gum line, but also reduces any tooth sensitivity you are experiencing. Results look very natural and the tissues blend seamlessly after a grafting procedure.
